about

It is possible to perceive something unmanifest, impermanent, lascivious? Something that exists only in our most intimate, non-shared experience?
The solitary singing of a dog, the plunger of a distant car, the tinkling of a bunch of keys. Sound is matter.
This house vibrates, the curved streetlights look over and let pass. What is really here?
In this research I decided to include the unexpected. I moved my equipment otside, in my balcony, I opened the windows wide. The neighborhood came to life, it played music in my place.
Auditory hallucinations, the spirit that vibrates and speaks to us through the voices of my neighborhood, which in this period, given the great drought, is dusty, shriveled and dry. But not for this reason silent. Indeed, the neighborhood still speaks to me.
Time escapes us, it is impermanent, things go fast.
The tremors of this dry neighborhood are here forever.
Old records keep me company scratching the perennial groove of a solitary loop.
We exist in the neighborhood, with our throats burning and our hands grasping the emptiness of time.
But a warm jazz brings us back here, in this moment without an ending or a start, with hopes of a tranquil summer coming now close.
And here I finally hear you, between the distant, chilling voices coming from these dusty balconies.
This is a tale of a temporal split, a story about the passage from one season to another marked by profound reflections on the impermanence of things.
Almost all recordings are first single takes, played on my balcony in the first warm months of late winter. I tried to keep overdubs and post-production work to a minimum.
The samples & field recordings were captured through a microcassette dictaphone, a Technics MS R225 recorder and a walkman. They were then reproduced at altered speed on a C1 Library of Congress.
